3 Tips For Planning A Dog Party

Are you planning a dog party?  Have you ever thought about giving your dog a party?

There are lots of good reasons to throw a party for your dog!  Birthdays, Christmas, Halloween, to celebrate graduating from obedience school, to make new doggy friends, to celebrate your dog’s “Gotcha Day” — the list goes on and on!  Here are some things to consider if you are planning a dog party.

1.  What’s the theme?  If you’re having a party for your dog the first thing to do is to decide on the theme.  If the party is for Christmas or Halloween then the theme is pretty simple to figure out.  But, if you’re having a birthday party or a party to meet new doggy friends you will probably want to choose something fun.  Choose something that your dog likes.  For instance, if your dog likes to play Frisbee you could have a Frisbee theme for your party.  Use a small Frisbee (or a generic version) on your dog’s cake.  Use some flying disks as party decorations.  Give some flying disks as party favors to your dog’s doggy guests.  If your dog is a show dog you could decorate the cake with some trinkets to represent dog shows.  Use some ribbons from dog shows as decorations.  Give some show gadgets as party favors such as sample bags of dog treats or other things you can pick up from dog show vendors.  Use your imagination and choose a theme that will be fun for you and your dog and guests.

2.  Choose a yummy cake.  No dog party is complete without a great cake.  These days there are many great dog bakeries around so you can order a beautiful dog cake made in some creative design.  Or, you can make your own dog cake.  It’s not too hard to make a dog cake.  All you need is a good recipe and some cake pans.  There are many good dog cake recipes available online.  Just find a recipe you like, follow the directions and cut the cake in a shape to suit your theme.  You’d be surprised at how easy it is to cut a cake into a few round shapes and create something that looks like a dog or a bone.  And remember that doggy icing forgives all mistakes.  No matter how your cake looks your dog will likely love it and be happy to eat it.  You can decorate your cake with Pupperoni treat sticks instead of candles.

3.  Be creative.  When planning a dog party it’s the little things that people really enjoy.  You can use some thin rawhide chews to write your party invitations.  Your guests will enjoy them and so will their dogs!  Party favors can be very simple.  Make some treat bags with, yes, treats.  And don’t forget the fun and games at your party!  Be sure to invite some friendly dogs who will enjoy playing with your dog at his party.  Have plenty of toys for all the dogs to play with and do supervise the play.

Planning a dog party is no more difficult than planning any other kind of party and your dog with love it.  Remember to keep things fun for your dog.  As long as there’s something yummy to eat and fun things to play with your dog and his doggy friends should have a great time and so will you.
